Mykor secures £960K in a Seed Round to implement technology and achieve certification
Mykor, the go to mycelium biobased insulation manufacturer, has closed a £960K Seed round in July this year led by Green Angels Ventures, Moonstone Fund, Rumbo Ventures, Core Angels and Pera Innovation Ltd. With new investors, alongside existing ones like Green Angels, Mykor now has the funding required to further develop the technology for the scale up.
On a mission to decarbonise the construction industry, Mykor is developing and scaling the next generation of building materials that considers both human and planet health. By providing an alternative to conventional insulation, such as polystyrene, woodfibre and mineral wool, Mykor offers a thermal performative, fire safe, carbon sequestering and affordable insulation panel. Mykor’s technology is optimised to ensure the products can be produced in a few days with low energy requirements. It tackles 18% of global carbon emissions with one product.
“Raising our Seed round in July has enabled us to implement our new technology 2.0 into our pilot factory, helping us reduce even further the carbon in the manufacturing process. By also drastically improving the speed, cost and scalability of our process, this places us as global innovators in the mycelium production landscape. We are on track to achieving production regulation, CE Marking and already have exciting expansion plans. We are extremely grateful for all existing and current investors for the support.” said Olivia Page, Co-Founder & CEO.
Surakat Kudehimbu, Senior Investment Executive at Green Angel Ventures said “Green Angel Ventures is thrilled to have co-led Mykor's seed round, reaffirming our commitment to supporting innovative companies that are decarbonising the construction industry. This investment underscores the strength of Mykor's groundbreaking proposition and the remarkable progress they’ve made in advancing their sustainable technology, driving carbon reduction in one of the world’s most critical sectors.”
Along with £3M raised to date with grants and equity, the company has been nominated twice for The Earthshot Prize in 2024 and has now been nominated for the 2025 edition by Casa do Impacto and WebSummit Lisbon.
